OSHA has released a new database that gives you access to safety information on 400+ chemicals.
They pooled data from several government agencies and organizations. The information includes:
- Chemical identification and physical properties
- Exposure limits
- Sampling information & additional resources
For example, want to know about Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide? (Try saying that 3 times fast…)
Turns out it’s a classified health code HE3 and HE14. “Chronic (Cumulative) Toxicity—Long-term organ toxicity other than nervous, respiratory, hematologic or reproductive” and “Irritation-Eyes, Nose, Throat, Skin—Marked”. Fun!
The website also includes OSHA’s Permissible Exposure Limits (PELs) for General industry, Construction and Maritime.
